Away from the hustle and bustle of Commercial street you will find 141 Bradford Natural Market, a natural and organic foods store that has been a part of Provincetown’s community for the past 30 years. For the past two years, Chris Getman and Joe Freitas have transformed the space into an airy environment – but don’t be deceived by all of the open space – there are a lot of products here : homeopathics, a wall of vitamins, supplements, and dietary herbs, organic produce, and foods for the entire kitchen, with an emphasis on local and organic.
What is especially recent about this store is the 141 Kitchen, which features a daily hot bar – think broccolini with shallot and dill, yellow curry with fingerling potatoes, and southwest frittata. And here’s a secret – it’s best to get there around 11 when the food is brought out ! As an employee of 141, my opinions might come off as biased, but I wholeheartedly support and advocate the high quality food we produce here.
If you aren’t into hot food during the peak of summer, the 141 kitchen also features a cold case with Thai peanut noodles with tofu, smoked tempeh wraps, the homemade veggie burger bowl, and a crunchy sunflower seed kale salad with cashew lemon miso dressing. The bar also does fresh green and vegetable juices, smoothies, and wheatgrass shots, and even E3-live shots for the brave ones.
The on-premise baker, Jim Evangelista, makes a good variety of gluten-free desserts and baked goods . And I’ve got to say – where can you find a vegan whoopie pie on Cape Cod but at 141 ? Exactly. Give it a try, and thank me later.
