Recently while I was on a trip to Paris…I discovered much to my surprise and exhibition of American Paintings @ the Musee de la Chasse…how lucky I was to catch up with the prolific Artist  Mark Beard while he was READYing some work for his first Provincetown Show!

What in the world around you inspires your work?

Beauty.

Other artists.

Male beauty.

 Natural beauty.  

Nearness of death.

Who is your favorite Artist and Why?

Me.

 Not really.  

Just joking.  John Singer Sergeant, for his grace.

 Tennessee Williams, for his humanity.

 Was there an Aha! Moment in your life when you knew you were an Artist?

For me, there was never an Aha moment.

 My father was a painter.

 And I always assumed that was what I would do.

 How do you think technology has changed Art?

It makes one meet deadlines quicker because you can’t hide behind Fedex and snail mail.

 What is it about Ptown and Cape Cod that has drawn Creative people to its shores time and time again?

I don’t know the Cape very well yet, but there seems to be a spirit of freedom at the end of a spit of land.

Mark Beard objects to the fact that success for an artist comes from labeling the artist with a particular style of work. So Beard has developed a number of distinct artistic personalities, each with a detailed biography and portrait photograph. Beard’s different artistic personalities include 5 artists who have completely different styles.
