Sharon McGauley One Woman Show Reception
Award-winning, internationally collected oil painter Sharon McGauley is known for her atmospheric, evocative oil paintings of land and sea. Her paintings are studies of the natural environment that synthesize observation, memory and experience. Long inspired by the Cape, McGauley expands on her landscape work and has also begun adding a subtle figurative element. These paintings focus on groups of beachgoers exploring low tide in a variety of lights, allowing McGauley to play with the subtle abstraction of figures getting lost and absorbed by the seascape. A uniquely Cape scene and experience, McGauley is enjoying working with the details and personalities of the individuals that have made their way into her canvases. Her work relies on simple compositions and subtle color harmonies to capture and convey her enthusiasm for vast expanses of sky, sea and land.
