Chris Lopez is a man who wears many hats, and looks GREAT in them ALL! Recently I had a chance to catch up with this very prolific Artist, as he was gearing up for his first Ptown exhibit @ the Jo Hay Open Studio :Art Gallery in July! It promises to be a very groovy showing of works by this Artist originally from Spain,who seems to have his finger on the pulse of the Art World!

How would you describe yourself?
I’m a multimedia artist: painting, drawing, photography, digital illustration, producer and art teacher.

Who is your favorite artist and why?
Too much of them. But I think Picasso is the best example of a true artist. His life was self discovering process through different media an styles.

Was there an Aha! Moment in your life when you knew you were an Artist?
Since I was a kid I wanted to be an artist, I admired the ones around my cultural environment like Picasso, Miro, Dalí.
I studied fine arts for 10 years and after working in the family business for another 10, I decided to leave everything and my country to start a new life as an artist. After that change it took me years and tears until I told myself with confidence “I’m an artist” and I’m going to live for my art.

How do you think technology has changed the Art World?
Amazingly. Now people can reach the artists and artists the people.
You can put a photo of your work on social media and it travels the world a reach thousands of people in minutes.

What do you think it is about Ptown that attracts Artist and makes some of the call it home?
I never been there. I’m going to be there for first time this July for my upcoming exhibit.
But I been told many times that I have to show my artwork there. I hear many beautiful things about Provincetown that I’m already in love with it.

A First timer in Ptown is always a wonderful thing to be…I have a feeling that Ptown will LOVE Chris and his very groovy Art, and no doubt Ptown will come to LOVE Chris Lopez.
