The Mews Restaurant and Cafe, established as an eating and drinking society 50 years ago and long one of New England’s most popular gathering spots, is celebrating this milestone with a year of distinctive events, new and retro menu items, original drinks, giveaways, and special guest appearances. The festivities kick off with a Night of Nostalgia on Sunday, January 5 featuring a menu of regular as well as a few items from their original menu including 1964 prices for those items. As always, Chef Laurence de Freitas will be accessing local purveyors and his award-winning skills to create these dishes in the manner that has garnered excellent reviews from Zagat and multitudes of others, and bartender extraordinaire Pingle Bowden will be on hand to suggest accompanying wines and cocktails from The Mews’ impressive selection of vodkas (300 plus) and other liquors.

As General Manager and co-owner of The Mews, television actor, theater professional and radio personality Ron Robin has created a year of enticing events highlighting many of the culinary and entertaining triumphs of the last five decades. In classic Provincetown style, on Night of Nostalgia, the staff will be dressed in 60s garb to align with the evening’s specials and retro musical selections.

Continuing the celebration, the sweet vocal harmonies and exciting string arrangements of popular classic rock, folk and original tunes of Grace and the RSO will open the 2014 Coffeehouse season on Monday, January 6, for its 23rd year. Coffeehouse entertainment, with a variety of award-winning musicals acts, will continue every Monday night into the spring. Often standing-room-only affairs, those in the know will grab a table for dinner with a view of the stage.
